What type of training do you offer?
-
We’re proud to stay on the cutting edge of dog training. Our team studies a variety of proven methods so we can customize each program to fit your dog’s personality and goals. We specialize in elite obedience, which builds the foundation for any advanced or specialized training down the road.

-
How old should my dog be for training?
-
We train dogs of all ages. Our Puppy 101 programs and classes are designed for puppies 8 -16 weeks old and focus on building the early foundations - engagement, socialization, and basic skills - that future training grows from. Our core obedience programs begin at 16 weeks, but it’s never too late to start. Dogs can learn and make meaningful progress at any age.

How do I know what training program to pick for my dog?
-
Start with a free evaluation! During this session, one of our trainers will meet your dog, discuss your goals, and recommend the best program for your needs. When deciding, it helps to consider your dog’s temperament, the level of training you want, your available time, and your budget. Call us today to schedule your complimentary evaluation!

-
Will my dog know how to listen to me at the end of the training program?
-
Yes! At graduation, you’ll have a private session with your trainer to review everything your dog has learned. We’ll show you how to use the training tools, practice the new commands, and feel confident maintaining the training at home. Every Training Camp graduate is backed by our lifetime guarantee, which includes free refresher sessions whenever you need them.

-
Do you train aggressive or reactive dogs?
-
Yes. Many behavior challenges stem from gaps in communication, clarity, or structure, so we begin by building solid, reliable obedience and handler understanding. From there, we address the specific triggers and patterns behind the behavior with a structured, individualized plan. Our goal is safer, more predictable behavior and better communication between dog and owner.
-

-
If my dog does the Board and Train program, will he/she forget me?
-
Not a chance. While we make sure every dog feels loved and comfortable here, nothing beats being reunited with family. During camp, we’ll send you regular photo and video updates so you can see your dog thriving and making progress.

Do you use e-collars?
-
We do. E-collars, when used correctly, are one of the safest and most effective tools for clear off-leash communication. At John K9, we use the Mini and Micro Educators by E-Collar Technologies, trusted for their precision and reliability. These collars allow for low-level, customizable communication that’s gentle yet consistent, helping dogs understand exactly what’s being asked of them. Our balanced approach pairs e-collar guidance with positive reinforcement to build confidence, reliability, and freedom for every dog. We’ve successfully trained dogs of all breeds, ages, and sizes using this method.
